FACTS
by Marriott_Guy |
As frequent visitors are aware, we typically detail the history
of a particular console in this FACTS section. With the
Sony PlayStation just being released on November 15, 2013, we need some
time to craft this article. Also, I plan on purchasing one in the near future to be able to provide direct,
hands-on feedback. For now, all other sections have been
completed so please check them out for interesting information
on the games, models and specs. The following are some
images from Sony's presentation of the PlayStation 4 at the
Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2013. |

Sony PlayStation 4 - Launch \ Base Edition
In addition to the obligatory power cords and user manual,
the Sony PlayStation 4 includes the DualShock 4

for purchase separately. The system does not include
the vertical stand as pictured on the retail packaging. |

Sony PlayStation 4 Destiny Bundle Special Editions
Ultra sleek and sexy PS4 featured in white with matching
peripherals. This beauty is set to be released in
September, 2014. Technically these are not any
differences in this model. This may be the one
Marriott_Guy snags. |

FORMAT, PACKAGING & GENERAL INFO
Interesting facts on software for this system |
Software for the Sony PlayStation 4 is distributed on Blu-ray
disc and digital downloadable formats. Backwards
compatibility is not currently supported for either the
original PlayStation, PlayStation 2 or the PlayStation 3.
The launch featured 23 total titles,
14 being released being optical disc (Blu-ray) and 9
exclusive digital releases. Titles have mandatory
installs (vary in size) to the included hard disc drive with
the disc being required for play.
The PlayStation Store is back in full force, offering
content additions for existing titles as well as full game
downloads and playable demos. The only change in the
GUI is a slight color variation, so users experienced with
the PlayStation 3 should feel right at home. |
